Magazine Content Pages Analysis

This is the content page to the magazine, Kerrang. I like their content page because everything is clear to see and images are used where appropriate. Furthermore they have headings on particular topics so it's easy to find what you're looking for and skip to that page. The colours are generally okay, however I would personally prefer them to be a little more brighter or interesting, however seeing as the majority of music in this magazine can be from death/heavy metal, to pop-punk, it isn't surprising that darker colours have been used as they connote more depressing and heavy music, that is compared to pop songs anyway. Having subtitles like "gig guide" and "features" is good and draws the audience in because it straight away gives them a lot of information and entices them to know more. If I had to take something from this content page to use for my own I would use the idea of having headings to suggest what shall be inside my magazine because it's easier to locate information and stands out to the rest of the text.

This is a content page to what is most probably a food magazine called Chopstick. I personally think that this contents page is successful because it is extremely visually appealing with images of food looking delicious and a clear, professional looking page where it is easy to find what you're looking for, with appropriate headings. I also like the fact that their headings have a different colour background to the rest of the page so it's eye-catching and compliments the overall theme of the page. Also by having images of the dishes inside it encourages the reader to buy the magazine and cook these meals themselves if possible because they look elegant and tasteful, and probably not too hard to make. If I had to take something from this content page to apply to my own, it was most probably be having visually attractive images that compliment the magazine and also have a clean cut colour layout as it looks professional.

This is the content page for the NME music magazine. What I like about this content page is the fact that there is a clear section of where specific articles and pages are, with page numbers available and a description of what is included underneath.. I also think having a "band index" is extremely useful as that way if the target audience needs to just find one artist, they can do it very quickly without any hassle. As well the colours interest me because they make the page look more alive and less boring, attracting the target audience as no-one's going to want to read something that isn't visually appealing. Pretty much every NME magazine has this house style for the contents page making it professional and good as then it's not constantly changing and confusing people. The content of this magazine appeals to the target audience as well as this magazine is based all around music therefore, attracting the intended target audience as obviously they're going to be interested in what the magazine has to offer. If I had to take something from this content page to apply to my own magazine, it would probably be the idea of having a "band index" because I personally think it's a really clever idea that would help the intended audience immensly.
